I bought this baby about 9 months ago thinking I would fix it up and "man, that thing is classy." Since then the friend who was going to loan his driveway and help with the fixing has moved, my girlfriend no longer has a substantial commute, the problems became a little bigger than I can handle, and I found a great deal on another car.
The good: great looking body, no rust, glossy paint; interior is very clean, except for a couple of suncracks on upper dash; most things works (signals, power sunroof, original Becker stereo); it starts effortlessly, idles very smoothly, and has most of its meager horsepower intact. Made it to LA and back recently without incident.
The bad: the auto transmission shifts are delayed to 3rd/4th (it winds out a little before shifting); it drips some oil; the tires are mediocre at best; the vacuum auto door locks were so slow and occasionally erratic that I disabled them; it is missing 2 hubcaps and the passenger side mirror; the rubber on the rear bumper fell off (it's in the trunk); the odometer reads 173K but has developed the sticky '9' problem and so it is probably a reasonable amount higher.
I already have a soft spot for this car and would love to see it go to good use. I don't expect a lot for it, and if I don't get any fair offers, I'll donate it in a couple of weeks.
