For Sale: 1984 MB 300SD
I bought this car just a few weeks ago to replace my NB TDI, but I've decided it's just too big for me. I went from a small car to a huge car and what I needed was something in between. I confess I made a mistake!! The seller gave me almost all receipts back to 1998 and before that a shop owner/mechanic owned it for his wife. The seller continued to bring it to that mechanic for almost all the work done from 1998 to 9/2004.
Anyway, at about 188,200 miles the transmission was replaced with a factory rebuild (7/98) at about 196,500 miles there was a lot of front end work, bushings, ball joints, etc. at about 225,000 miles the engine was rebuilt (9/2000) at about 231,700 new starter at about 242, 800 alternator, belts at about 250,000 front window motor, brakes glow plugs 6/02 There was other work also, but these seemed to be the major expenses. It appears, from the receipts that I do have, that whatever went wrong he got it fixed. I bought it with about 265,150 on the odometer, so that means only about 39,000 on this motor. (The major reason I bought it!) Since I've only had it a few weeks there are probably a few hundred more miles on the odometer, if even that. The body, paint, leather interior are all in what I would call exceptional condition. The back of the drivers seat has a small tear in it, sunroof works great. Not the original radio, it has a pioneer with a single cd player, you remove the front of the radio and take it with you. There's an amplifier mounted in the trunk but I don't know anything about that. I know the windows all work, sunroof works, drivers seat adjusts all angles. Power locks all work, antenna works, flashers, cruise control, blinkers etc. all work. I know the horn doesn't work, when I asked him if it had an alarm he said yes, but he had it disconnected because it had a short so I'm guessing that is why the horn doesn't work. The air conditioner works great and has been changed over to the new stuff. The battery is fairly new, and the tires are brand new all around. (have the receipt for the tires) He sold it to me because his daughter was going off to school, he bought himself a Tahoe and they didn't need an extra car anymore. I bought it for $5625 and that is what I'm asking for it. When I bought it I felt it was worth a lot more since it had an almost new rebuilt engine and the transmission replaced already. I'm not trying to recoup my registration fees or anything else. I figure I have to lose something for my mistake!! Anyway, I thought I would put it out here before I advertised in the paper. Sorry I can't do pictures. Maybe if anyone out of my area (Sacramento) is interested, someone in my area would be kind enough to check it out for you. Thanks for reading this, it's kinda long, but I thought it was important to put out there all the major stuff that's been done. Oh, it's gold. There are sheepskin covers for the front seats. Freshly washed but not put back on yet! Vickie
