W201 Fog Lights?

Is their any OEM fog lights for the w201? Basically I need some suggestions cause I'm in the dark. BTW I wouldn't mind hacking up my front end to use another MB's oem fog lights

Yeah, they're integrated into the headlight assemblies. Just turn the headlights or parking lights on and pull out on the headlight switch knob.

I dont think my head lights are wired properly. My step-dad bought new ones from MB Stealership. The city lights will not come on

What I consider "city lights" are small clear bulbs in the headlight assembly which come on usually with a seperate position on the headlight switch, or possibly are on when the headlights are in the off position. You can see they are on, but don't put out alot of light. US cars don't have them, I think they may be a requirement in some European countries. They are sort of operate like daytime running lights, just not as bright. My BMW motorcycle has one. On my ignition switch, it has an "off", "parking light" and "on" position. The engine will operate in either the "parking light" or "ON" position. In the parking light position, this small clear bulb in the headlight and the tail light will be on. In the "on" position the headlight and tail light will be on as normal. I have only used this feature once, when on a trip i found that the headlight wasn't working. Luckily it was in the day time, but I was in Canada, and headlights are required during the day on a cycle, same as here in Wisconsin. I used the parking light position so it looked somewhat like I had a headlight, just so I wouldn't get pulled over by OPP. In the manual I believe this bulb is referred to as a "city light". maybe the European version MB's have a similar setup with the ignition switch determining if these lights are on or not.
Do your foglights work?Did your step-dad maybe buy Euro headlights for it?

In europe, illuminated side markers are not required as they are in north america.

when MBs were spec'd for north america, they simply re-routed the power that went to the city lights to the front turn signal/side marker.

you have a couple of options:

1) if you want to remain legal and have your city lights work, you will need to solder a wire off of the side-marker and into the headlight connector to illuminate the city light when the side markers are on. You will need to get the female electrical connector for the wire from MB. they're less than $1.00.

2) if you want to emulate the european lighting scheme, route the power for the side marker to the connector for the city-light instead.

The above, of course, assumes that you have european headlight assemblies. city-lights are not a part of the morth american spec headlight assemblies.

city-lights serve the dual purpose of illuminating your lights without blinding oncoming traffic, since in europe you are taught that your headlights not only allow you to see, but they also allow you to BE SEEN (Something they didn't teach in driver's ed when i was learning); and they also work as a backup in case one of your headlight bulbs is blown out. that way your car doesn't look like a motorcycle from a distance.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was refering to my US Spec pos headlights. I should be getting Euro headlights soon so I guess I'll wait til then and sort out everything.

Everything about my car really worries me. The previous owner let the car sit in a parking lot for 2-3 years. Basically it destroyed the orginal headlights,tail lights,interior, and the fuel system. It cost my step dad alot of money just to get the car running due to his lack of knowledge for cars and MB's in general. My car was given to me as a present and I plan on keeping it as long as I can. I'm still learning alot about my 190 and other MB's everyday. This forum is really great I really apperciate all the tips guys.
