I just recently got the opportunity to test drive a '81 240D, manual transmission. What a "classic" automobile. I look under the hood and it is hard to imagine that something like this was sold as late as the mid-80's. As far as easy access and ease of maintenance looked it reminded me a lot of a 1953 Ford 9N tractor my grandfather used to have. I am going to try to purchase one over the next few months to have as a toy which I hope to maintain/drive/keep it going for the next 5 years. I know a young man that would love to get one in about 5 years and I can't think of a better car than a 240D.

My 240D was my sons first car. He is now a seasoned and expert manual transmission driver. It was like letting him play with a crowbar in the sandpile, he couldn't hurt it.
Have a great day, |
