Hi All,
Spring is here! I dusted off the 6.3 and went drag racing Sunday. Won the first two...lost in the third round. It ran a consistent 15.3, though it pulled a 15.1 in practice. Now I just need to work on reaction time. It was still a blast to nail the pedal to the floor without having to look out for enforcement officials. So get out there, find a track and run 'em. It's also a great way to find any "marginal" parts.
Regards,
Randy D.

Sounds like fun! Where in the frozen north are you? The 6.3 is a great car, you must really love being able to drive it full out like that.

I live in London, Ontario, Canada.....and love to drag race.

I race my mother's Ford Contour SVT. Not much to speak of in terms of build quality or fit and finish but, the thing sounds great and my last visit it turned out a respectable 15.3 @ 89.71 mph in the 1/4.

I have a new set up for this year (Friday is the first night Sparta Drag Park opens) consisting of simple tweaks (tire pressure and suspension adjustments and will hopefully somehow knock off another 4/10's to get into the high 14's.

I do believe I have a shot, I've already beat Motor Trend Magazine's times just by taking out the small spare tire (I only gained a /10 though and .5 mph)

I'll be running:
a quarter tank or less fuel (Sunoco Ultra 94)
205/60R15's up front (Blizzak winter tires=soft compound 33psi)
215/50ZR16 rear (44-46psi)
No back seat, spare tire, trunk carpet, or floor mats.

Any other tips for you guys could offer?
(I can't mod the car due to it voiding the warranty)

Mike McKinney

How about the passenger seat? Is that doing you any good, or just adding weight?

I thought you might have meant Canada when you said frozen north, but I guess it can get pretty frozen where you are too.
