I WAS BORN! OF THE UNICORN!!
Any updates there Romulus? |
To Ortolan&PUMPISH:
Did your AT&drivetrain being reinforced?? Because Im really worry about the stability of them. Or you guys never care about that:confused: Like the video I watched, the rear rubber coupling would be destroy by the torque:( And I think the gear clutch of AT would be easily slip while you driving under maximum torque in the low gear:( Where can I find a set of AMG 3.6L Crank&Conrods&Pistons in a good condition,Ortolan? |
I had my AT rebuilt with OEM high-torque parts. Hopefully it'll be enough, I'll know soon.
If you want to build a 3.6L monster the best way is to buy a used C36 engine on ebay. If the rods need replacing I have a set of new rods being sold cheaply. You can then have some custom pistons made up. Doing it this way would have been far cheaper than the way I ended up going. |

US$300. They're sitting somewhere in my mechanic's workshop. I'll pick them up when I'm next there.

Now I dont try to buy a C36 engine, because I dont know the engine's condition.
Last time my friend buy a C36 engine,it happened a critical failure on 10000km trip. The conrod break and caused massive scratch´ wearing in the cylinder. So I wont to try buy it unless I can check it completely,or warranty. |
I wouldn't suggest using forced induction on a used C36 engine without a rebuild. Tear the thing down, hone the cylinders, check the crank and rods, have some custom forged pistons made up, clean up the head and put the whole thing back together again. Then you can make over 400hp without worrying about things breaking.

About drivetrain you can easy make aound 400Hp with stock drive train and GM clutch plate but more then that the problems will come. Now I use sasch racing 2 plates clutch kit for 1200nm And no rubber flex joints, I replace them with knotcross and special builded tranny so I hope I can make up to 1000Hp with this new setup |

Thanks for the information;) But Roman, What type of manual tranny of you use? W202's 5MT? W201's 5MT? W124's 5MT? I think the limit-strength of these 3 types would be diffrent. The MT maybe stronger than AT,but so much torque would be a biiiiiiiiiiiiiigggg problem for a tranny. I mean in long term, the clutch may able to receive, but the tranny inner components too? And Merc's MT had a problem,"too much shift stroke/un-convenient paddle layout". Does it can be solve? Im consider about to swap a V12's tranny components to a 722.5 tranny, with carbone clutch discs. Or,find a rare 722.6 tranny for it(only able with M104 3.6L/2.8L). Why 722.6? Here,in my place, many 55K+722.6 tranny can up to 800PS+&950nm+ without any tuning for tranny strength, and they often drive over 200mph without any problem. Do you think it's a good idea for the tranny? The idea of crosshead joint for driveshaft is great,I agree this is a final solution for the hell rubber joints. |
Where are you, Roman? What's happening with that hot rod Benz?

wow!
ive seen romans youtube videos ages ago and regularly show my cossie mates his video and the whole time he is on the ssame web site ive been for almost a year the man is nuts im anxious about trying to get 400bhp out of my m104 twuin turbo let alone 800bhp ive only read the 1st few pages of this topic so far just herd they have m104 TT conversions left at beaconsfield so im tempted to make my amg styled coupe a twin turbo too |
