Brakes are in place on the new brilliant silber 92 i bought. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_165.JPG Wheels needed 10mm spacers to fit with the much bigger brakes leaving me with a 25mm ET.Turned spacers out of 7075T6 http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_166.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_168.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_169.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_170.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_167.JPG New car.Spring is coming:D http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_176.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_177.JPG New "home signal" trigger bracket to go where the OEM SLS pump resides. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_178.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_181.JPG Car is since about a week back converted to stick(was a slushbox one when i picked it up) Uniball gear lever ends, homebrew shifter knob with "go baby go" button(launch control) and what have you not...gear lever assy has been cmpl overhauled with new pts.Retaining ring for the boot out of....7075T6 of course:D http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums.../normal_72.JPG New 3.5" exhaust for the turbo motor.Apple racing silencer. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums.../normal_86.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums.../normal_91.JPG Lower control arm bushing kit out of Delrin and 7075-again. Turned press fit,are completely "noise" less so far and REALLY wakes the front end up http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums.../normal_99.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_108.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_105.JPG Our new CNC cut, laser engraved and anodized fuelrails. Can be had any colour you like...as long as it´s black:D http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_106.JPG Valve springs to take us the other side of 10 000rpms..shims are just to check for installed pressures. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...l_DSCN0165.JPG Then....the nemesis of all cossies has been combated... Intake finally came to solid form in it´s first stages. Altho this is a first multi axes CNC cut piece,we opted to cut this first prototype rather coarse to save machining time as we wanted to make sure all the various holes asf ended up in the right place. None the less....out of 6086 aluminium-so it can be modded when need be with a TIG for various user specific brackets and what have you not(which is a lot harder with for instance 7075)... http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...rmal_114~0.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_115.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_116.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_117.JPG Opted to use this first prototype for my own new turbo motor, but the idea is that the flange can be used for a myriad of setups incl gulliotine. Cheap tho....nope..;) http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_119.JPG[/QUOTE] |
i dont know why you just dont copy and paste your posts from the rev... haha

Thanks for making the photos all appear, chuni. Any reason why they didn't appear the first time? Maybe Racing overshot his allotment of photos for the site?
The multi-axis machining on the intake runners looks like artwork - I was surprised to hear you thought they were rough machined. Looks a lot like all that needed to be removed, was, and that holds a certain appeal. Especially on such a complex set of intersecting curves and shapes. Jim |

when i have a long chain of images, i just copy and paste the img tags then come back and insert the urls |
Thanx Chuni.
You got a point... Jim. Yeah.Multi axis machines can most def produce a higher level of finish than that.As stated it´s all a question of trial pieces, and i expect customers of the piece to demand higher standards. Basicaly you´ll be able to anodize the piece colour of choice, and seing that...finish becomes rather imperative if you ask me. |
Speaking of which.
Jim. Friend/customer of mine running his valver in.Swedish style. I expect fairly strong performance to come from this one as it all gets settled,so expect more videos of Dennis car as time goes by.. VEMS...of course...and a hybrid KKK/Garett built by me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMssMkZvpYo |
Racing,
I think I am getting to know that road you do the testing on from watching your videos. I could hear the whistling of the turbocharger's controls trying to keep the intake pressure under control in that one. Some pretty serious rubber burning there! Couldn't see in the tinted glass well enough to glimpse the owner's smile, but it should be a pretty toothy grin stretching from ear to ear. Nice car, Jim |
Jim.
Fooled around with the intruments a little-as it essentialy is needed down the road. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_186.JPG Came out OK at least.. |
Racing,
You will need a bigger diameter tach soon. A 9,000 rpm redline? Looks very nice...will you being doing jobs for AMG soon? Jim |
Nope.
No AMG for me. (I get job offerings of that nature from time to time-and decline them all as i enjoy where i´m at and what i do to much. AMG hasn´t called yet tho...*LOL*). Yeah. I expect us to make good use of the tach...or more to the point i expect the new shiftpoint to be above those 9...but hey..that´s just my ramblings so far. Future will tell. |
Well Jim,things are progressing-abeit slow due to work load.
Getting "hajtäk" to say the least..:) We´ve started to adress the "odd" stuff that goes into making a stocker rock... Like...fuel lines. http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_207.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_208.JPG Modded bracketry for the alt that now resides where the AC pump goes stock http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_209.JPG As the intake will be running dual injectors...yeah well... http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a..._5609kopia.jpg Season´s started alright :) http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_212.JPG With dual inlets seing the dual fuelrails needed http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_213.JPG Around here we call em "gay whistles" http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_218.JPG For diffusor shields within the entry end tank....i kinda called some of my old friends since aeronautic univ up...some of the boys that´s been involved in the swedish JAS 39fighter project..:)(KISS kind a went out the door on that one...) to determin the placement of the diffusor plates within the tank... http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_220.JPG ...and serious boys of course measure IAT as well as p1 pressure before as well as after the cooler... ;) |
No more worries as far as temps going through the roof!
Old setup had a tendancy to elevate temps as i kept the go pedal mashed to the floor for extended periods. No more. Turned out old friend had a radiator "kit" laying around for US sprint cars that was....usable for a valver. So,out the TIG welder came after turning the bracketry and ends needed for a merc... http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_223.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_225.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_224.JPG http://www.102983.org/gallery/albums...normal_226.JPG (Last pic is of bungs welded in to alleviate the rad from engine vibrations via rubber cushions.) |
Nice work, will be great to see this one run. You guys must be busy. My son is wondering what happened to you and the VEMS guy - he is waiting to order stuff. He has about 2 months to get the stuff from you guys and install it before he is back to school.
Ahh, brings back the memories of the days when my buddy had a Peugeot 404 (actually he had several he picked up cheap in the early 1970's in junk yards) that always overheated. The cure was a radiator from some 7 plus liter displacement piece of American pig iron. It didn't quite fit under the hood so we cut a hole for the radiator cap to get the hood down. That radiator kept the engine cool even after we had a head on (he was driving and eating a sandwich at the same time, on icy roads outside St. Anton in Austria) with a VW K-70. The VW saw us coming out of control and stopped, and we were hardly moving. The collision poked a hole, several actually, in the radiator and not much else. So we pinched the damaged tubes off with a needle nose pliers and filled it up with water and drove to Munich, no problems. Yeah, bigger is better when it comes to radiators for engines that run too hot. Jim |
Jim.
You need to take that up with Jörgen of VEMS. I´ve got nothing what so ever to do with that apart from him being a close friend of mine. Ie,write him and ask. |
