M104 Variable Valve Timing
Can anyone please shed some light on how this works?
Is it just a simple one step movement of the camshaft at a pre determined number of revs or is it variable across a range? |

Welcome to MercedesShop. Yes, your correct. It's a single movement of a specific number of degrees. I have the exact parameters in a book but I can't find it. If I remember correctly, the solenoid that changes the cam timing is altered around 2500 RPM and is carried to about 4500 RPM when the position returns to normal. I'll try to find the book and post actual numbers. Hope this helps for now. Adam

I was close. Here's the info on the M119 valve timing. It should be about the same for the M104. Here's the thread: how does the variable timing work on 500e?
