V6 acura engine, in a 123?
What do you guys think of retrofitting a V6 acura engine, into a 83 240d? Im just interested if there is anybody out there that has thought of this?

Would the w123 need to become a front wheel drive or is there a way to use an engine from a FWD in a RWD car? Just curious.

It depends on how the engine tranny meet up in the Accura. Some fwd cars can give their engines to a rwd with no problem and others it would be a major PIA to do so.

Well i was thinking of what was easier, converting the car to be fwd or busting my ass to make it a rwd.. But i think a few holes in the bellhousing on the tranny actually line up to the bellhousing on the honda engine, if you can belive it. the hard part is actually trying to get the damn thing mounted in there because its supposed to be transverse mounted..

I saw a street rod once that featured a Toyota engine. The builder wanted a daily driver, and that was the first engine he ran up against. I think he had it mated to a Celica 5-speed transmission.

I'd imagine it would be quite hard to put a FWD drivetrain in a RWD body without replacing the whole front clip. I don't mind the sacreligious gutting of Mercs as long as it's done with some class. I'd look into RWD drivetrain options if I were you.

Since the benz motors are so robust if you have a good car with a bad motor finding a decent used motor is relatively easy. Unless you have bushels of money sitting around and are bored to tears,why even think of a cross brand switch. If you do a Honda motor in the end who would ever buy it? Its a bastard and will be unloved by the rice or kraut crowd.
You would be married to it and every time you go to order parts you will have to stop and figure out whether it is a Honda or benz part that has failed and what to order. Tom W

Do you need better economy or more power? IMO a m103 3.0l or m104 3.0l with cis injection would be nice.

1992 Mercedes 190D 2.5 turbo 5sp manual. EGT+boost gauges. Boost controller set to ~14.5 psi. 1 1/4 turns on full load adjustment. LPG injection. Next in the list is water injection.

Since you will have the engine out
why not make it a two cycle at the same time? It's much easier to do when the engine is out, really.

but a few words of advice (comming from a former diesel owner)- Benz motor, turbo charger, propane injection. . .123 racecar anyone?. . now just to address the traction and body roll issues. . .

M103??? No way...go straight for the Toyota Supra engine. 7M-GTE or 2JZ-GTE...just depends on if you want one or two turbos.
