BRABUS 3.6-24 engine startup after rebuilt
Hi there.
After a complete rebuilt of my brabus engine M104.980 in my W124 The engine has a very small ticking sound. I have used 5W/40 oil, but BRABUS have mounted a specification in the engine bay, that states that only 10W/60 RS Oil must be used. Why is that and could it be the thin oil im using that causes the almost not hearable ticing sound? It getīs wors as the engine gets hotter. I was also very much in doubt about the timing if this engine (have read the AMG timing thread) my engine donīt have extra dowel holes to line up with but I know brabus also stated that only Super blyfrei must be used, that means 98 Octane, and I can get the Shell V-Power here at 99 Octane, så that should be fine, but normaly this engine should be able to run also on 95 Octane right??? ![]() The resistor on the ignition module is 0 Ohm. = higest timing setting for best performance but this also meen I should run on 98 Octane witch I am. Så this Ticing noice that getīs worce as the engine gets hotter, is it only because it has been totaly rebuilt or is it the oil 5W/40 I am using even though brabus say only 10W/60 should be used or is it my timing that can be off? please advice me or come with your best input on this matter.
