What should a dogleg Getrag trans feel like?

Hey guys,

So I've never driven another stick shift Mercedes besides my 300e I converted myself with the 16v Dogleg Getrag. Was wondering if some fellow stick shift drivers could chime in with opinions of how these things should feel.

My Getrag box is pretty notchy, and requires patience going gear to gear. My Mini Cooper, and the 944 Turbo I used to have would both shift lightning quick. With the Mercedes you have to be patient and not force anything. Any recommendations as to how to get the box smoother? I know that these things are notchy, but is the slow shifting symptomatic of my not having it adjusted right, or are they just like that?

Thanks!
