That's funny, I tried ordering sockets for a different switch (to add a remote power switch for my Valentine-1) and was told there were none in the USA, they'd have to come from Germany. I wonder if it's the same part you're waiting on. What's the part number...?

Shanta,

Got it - Thanks.

As to the socket, I got one set in, but they're not the right part - the (hopefully) correct parts are on their way, but all did I believe have to come from Germany

install instructions

I tried following the renntech instructions and the wire colors did not match the instructions, if i remember, the instructions are for a 1993, maybe 1992 has different colors. Any ideas?

Wire color unimportant

The critical thing is to identify the correct pin locations, as indicated on the front of the socket (that the ASR module plugs into). To ensure I didn't screw it up too bad, what I did was to cut the 1st wire (once my confidence was high that I had identified the right one), then I connected a continuity tester between the cut wire and the correlating pin slot - basically the front & back of the socket. When I established there was continuity between the front of the socket and the cut wire, I knew I had it right

Instructions?

Forgive me, but with all the twists and turns of this thread I was hoping you would create a new, detailed, step by step "master" instruction which eliminated the noise and false starts...

And send it/them along with the hardware.

You know, making it easy for us electrically challenged folks.

fyi, the latest dealer price list (May 2003) is here in Zip format. Unpack with WinZip (or Stuffit), open with Notepad or SimpleText, use the Search feature for part #'s with no spaces.

Sockets are coming!

After several failed attempts to get the right switch sockets (and buying 20+ wrong ones; not returnable ), I pulled my switchgear apart & got the correct # from my car. The right sockets are on their way from Germany-kits should ship within a week.

Thanks for your patience!

Vince,

That's really honorable of you, but they were quite cheap so just buy me a beer sometime

I suppose it's just the cost of doing business-I didn't have this problem in my install, since I used the fader slot where the switch snaps into the backside of the console wood

Michael,

I've been having trouble getting the sockets from MB myself, for a different project I'm working on (I don't have ASR on my cars). If you email me the part numbers of the sockets you have that don't work, I might be interested in buying them, depending on what exactly they are. My email is: rc51@cableone.net
