Sweet! Thats what the S class is built for. Look at it this way if you were driving it on the Autobahn and crazy like me you could set the cruise control for 170mph.

There is no such thing as to fast in an S class...

Fastest I've gone was 132 mph indicated in a 1972 280SE, probably a Euro judging from the shift points... I would definitely want to be sure my tires were properly inflated (adding the +7 or so psi that it says on the gas filler door). I just pumped the 300TE up to 34/43psi front / rear (max load over 100 mph)... wow, rougher ride but it handles a lot more like a go-cart. It's even more fun doing power slides in wet snow, ice, gravel, etc...

as to the governor, my car was previously a shop car for a mercedes repair shop which installed a governor so that customers wouldn't take the car above 95, it was set up to count revolutions of the axle just past the flex disk behind transmission.

and revs, 10K, don't know, didn't pay attention but I'm pretty sure it was redlining...kinda glad I didn't blow the motor or tear up the transmission though...
Well the "officer" is full of it. There's a big difference between 130 (300E's ACTUAL top speed) and 210 MPH.

I have $1000 waiting here for you if you can prove that kind of output. Also, NASA and Mercedes Benz engineers will be knocking at your door to figure out your secret in breaking the laws of physics.

So break out that flux capacitor, dilithium crystals, or whatever it is you have under that hood and lets see some real proof!

No doubt the 300E is a very fast, sweet ride. I know, I own one. However there's no way a basically stock 300E is going to break 200 MPH.

What about tires and fuel consumption? What if something electrical/mechanical fails? What if an animal is in the middle of your lane as you barrel down the road at 250 feet per second?

100 mph steady cruising is about as fast as I'd want to go in any car for an extended period of time due to the aforementioned circumstances. In ANY CAR MADE.

A rush to ~200 mph for a short period of time is OK, too.

Fastest thus far is probably ~240 Km/h on a modified Honda CBR. Fastest in a Benz is about 210 Km/h in my 300E. A friend of mine took me for a ride in his Viper, think we hit 240-260ish? Not sure. Was too busy holding on and yelling!

However...

Just got the E430, summer is coming, I'll post back here in a bit...

I drive an 86' 300E, the engine is a junkyard rebuild from an 88', I disabled the governor when I rebuilt the engine , and I amplified the power to the fuel pumps slightly...

That's it...
Do you know how much HP it takes to propel a 300E to 210 MPH??

They can't even make them stick when they catch me red handed with lazer, or radar. I get caught all the time, and have spent a little over $18,000.oo in tickets/court costs, and defense, in the past year alone. I still have a perfectly clean license, and nothing on my record. I've gotten a ticket for something or another, in literally every state. Majority of them for high speed offenses. Recently, 98, in a 55 in Iowa.
Today, I drove from Whitakers,Nc. to Charleston,Sc. (318 miles) in two and a half hours flat. I did this to deliver the load of engines, to the customer, and actually got there a lot earlier than my appointment. clear a path, because I'm gonna blow your doors in...!!!
Whatever buddy.... Regardless, you are putting everyone on the road in danger of losing their lives. I have no problem with a car excessively speeding on an empty highway, but driving a semi-truck on an occupied road at those speeds is just ridiculous....and bragging about it online with pics to prove it is just insane. People have been brought to court for far less. Maybe the charge won't "stick", but when you kill a family or die your own fiery death, I'm pretty sure reality will hit home....

Oh yeah....I almost forgot...

I have ANOTHER $1000 for the guy who takes his 300E w/ nothing but "fuel system mods" through 200 statute MILES per hour. Hell, I'll even bring the speed down to 180 just for good measure. If my C43 can just break 155, I have a hard time believing your heavier 176 HP 300E can touch anywhere near 180, let alone 210. My guess is that you run out of steam near 120-130 range.

faster than you...

fastest i've been in a car was my 1975 corvette stingray (slightly modded in which i topped out at 163 mph... probably could go faster (speedo read 180) but ran out of road

second fastest was in my 93 325is (again very slightly modded) in which i hit damn near 145 mph (that was really pushin it)

funny thing is, my corvette was pushing out damn near 400 horses and was a two seater with a fiberglass body (weighed far less than any mercedes ever built!) and i know there is no way in hell it would have ever touched 200... so how did this kid break 210 in an 88 klunker?... fyi, those are nascar speeds kid!

oh yeah, and you think you can't get caught for having a video of wreckless endangerment? Tell it to the guy who recorded his ferrari going 140 down a california interstate and put it on the internet... only thing is you'd have to talk to him through prison glass...

An essentially stock 300E over 200 mph - very simple. Gravity. Coupla roads around the Grand Canyon might get you enough drop distance or off the Royal Gorge Bridge (1,000 feet to the bottom).

According to the spreadsheet, done by others, for my 560SEC:
Frontal area sq ft: 24.7
Drag coefficient: 0.34
Weight pounds (wet): 4100

The modified LS6 motor I'm putting in there has been dyno'd at 410 RWHP, which I calculate to be about 475 - 480 crank HP. With the figures above for the SEC, I should run out of steam around 185 MPH (will run out of cajones well before that though).

Going to have go be a HELL of a 6-cylinder 300E motor to get a brick like a 300E over 200! I think a 6.0L full-on AMG motor in a Hammer was "only" good for 300KPH (186 mph), with all the aerodynamic mods that were done as well.

He either did a typo or is high on something. Maybe he meant 200KPH (124MPH)??

I think it was a typo and he ment 210kph, which would be about right.

Well, he did type "MPH" twice... Kinda hard to mix up. It is funny though, 210 KPH would be just about right for a 300E.

On the flat, the fastest I have had the 300TE was 137 with my GPS verifying it.

Now, down hill, the fastest she has gone was a about 147 with my GPS verifying.

The fastest I have gone in a Mercedes was in my uncles very very modified CL55. We briefly touched 192 MPH on a trip to the bay area.

The fastest I have gone on 4 wheels on the street was in a Bentley Continental GT. The speed was approximately 209 MPH. Thats scary fast. you pass cars like they are sitting still....
