				Eibach/H&R - Bilstein HD/SP?

I'm looking to lower my C280 Sport about 1.25". I'm pretty sure I will be using Eibach Pro springs and Bilstien Sport shocks. However I'm interested in opinions of others that might be better. My question is what size pads should I use for front and rear? I dont want the "slammed" look, or looking like there is a body in my trunk. Thanks, Brad

I wouldn't be too concerned about the pads, quite yet. The pad system is used by MB to compensate for the differing weight of powerplant options, optional equipment such as power windows/seats/sunroof even the trim and body kits of the car, so the lift or lowering via the pads is really just fine tuning and do not amount to a great deal. We're talking millimeters, not centimeters in difference. Also, the vehicle will settle down on new springs and shocks after a few days, so the initial look you see at the shop might drop even further later.

brad, i posed a very similar inquiry earlier, and didnt get much input. however, the general concensus is that the EB springs with the bilstein shocks is a tried and true combo. other options include koni adjustables (can vary shock dampening) or OEM "sportline" shocks that would be mega $. i bought the EB pro springs for my 95 C-280, but have not made a shock decision yet. all the info i found said approx 1.2" drop with the pros. as for the pads: no way to know beforehand. i would GREATLY appreciate hearing more about your mods, and especially interested to see before and after photos. thanks in advance. - thrillbilly (bencad@mindspring.com) |
