Question Should I sell E420 for E500?

I have this absolutely perfect example of E420. Not even a single scratch in the body. Driven 100K miles;

I have always dreamt of a E500.... I have a buyer for my car...

Those of you who know both cars, is the price diff worth it?..

If someone wants to buy your E420 for what you want for it, and you have a line on a nice 500e/E500, then I say go for it. There are many differences between those two cars.

Do whatever floats your boat.

I have owned both I liked my E420 better then my E500 and neither had the "real love" that I gave my 300E.

It is easy for many to say get a E500 over a E420, but it REALLY depends on what you are looking for.

For the record, gas milegae sux on both cars, but the E500 has a bigger gas tank, to sux more money at a time.

Also many talk about insurance being more expensive, well having owned both and insuring both cars (full coverage), I can tell you that insurance is the same on both cars (give or take a $5), at least for me it was.

follow your inclination(s)

Only you can make that decision/choice, E220T.

Every driver/owner has and is entitled to his/her personal preferences; in your case (as described), this sounds like an issue which may be summarized as
"98% circumstances + 2% motivation to change."

Do that which will make you the happiest in the long term - price, condition, rarity, performance, pedigree/history, and uniqueness notwithstanding.

Example: I still love (and drive) my 1967 VW Type I - and I would never trade or sell it for any reason, whatsoever.

Good luck,

Hi Guys,

Having gone from a 2.3/16 to a 94 E500 to presently a 97 E420 Sport I can say there is a world of difference between the E420 and the E500. The E420 is just a much more modern automobile. While the E500 was a hoot to drive, the E420 wins hands down in comfort, ride and civility. With the much improved 5 speed auto, the E420 is not that much slower than the E500 with the old antiquated 4 speed auto. While build quality of the E420 is just a tick behind the vault like E500, it's still much better than other marques. If I had to drive cross country I would no doubt pick the E420. To carve up a mountian pass I'd pick the E500, but overall the E420 is a better car.

Cheers!

Scott

Congratulations!! Love the modifications you've made, very tasteful.

So now tell us your impression. What do you see/feel are the differences between the 400E/500E? Be honest.

Also what is that red object below the rear bumper?

Those are RH Alurad Rims, 17*8 front and 17*9 rear. Tires are Bridgestone S03.

Actually I will receive my car in about 2 weeks as it is being shipped to Iceland from Germany. The mods were made for me there by a guy who is helping me so I still havent tried the car but I am looking forward .

Well, now I have had the car for one week and all I can say is wow . The 500E is much more powerful, better suspension and handling, and the overall feel is that it is a much more massive car. I obviously made the right decision. Some more pics from Iceland:
