E55 AMG exhaust
Hi guys...
Any suggestions on a replacement exhaust for a '03 E55 AMG?? I've heard that the loss of 24 horsepower when compared to the '03 SL55 AMG, is from the smaller-diameter, larger length exhaust fitted on the E55. |
PM Benzmac, I believe he's had a chance to play with the new E55 already. I think he mentioned that the horsepower difference was actually a boost adjustment on the kompressor.
BTW if you have one can you post a pic and your driving impressions.:) :D Also maybe a quick comparison to other cars driven. |
It is exhaust....
The E55 has a smaller diameter pipe than the SL55 and it is longer as well. I believe the E55 is 200 pounds lighter though so performance is about the same.

I found the thread that Benzmac responded too, take a look

The HP 'rating' from the manufacturer is there to protect the flagship SL 55....They are identical in power. I have dyno'd both cars and the output is the same.
BTW....The exhaust is the same. Diameter and catalysts. |
Benzmac,
What RWHP numbers are you getting from the new E55? |
404 hp and 450 torque at the wheels.
|
Those are some pretty strong hp numbers! I'm glad Mercedes is finally making some real horsepower.

E55 HP
The E55 has a crimp on the underside of the driver's side air inlet tube, that can be replaced with an S500 inlet tube for $25 according to posters on MBWorld.org.
