c43 Transmission Failure

@61K miles
...Sound familiar?!

The collective forum posts and the $ poke for the Harmonic Balancer failure, led me to decide on an aftermarket warranty.
...Ok, so far.

What makes no sense is that after the adjuster has declaired it a 'catastrophic failure', they want me to pull it out of the dealership and drag it to Aamco to have it completely torn down. Then I can then expect to have them replace it with an 'equally used' or a 'refurbished' tranny.

Lesson Learned:

Be sure you scrutinize the details of the vendor, carrier and contract before you purchase a warranty.
...Not just if, but HOW they will cover the claim.

but I bet it was cheaper than a starmark warranty...

When it comes to MB's. Starmark is the way to go. You get what you pay for. Thanks for the reminder!

Yeah, I have heard of some extended warranty companies that will go out of their way to not pay for anything.

If I were to ever consider an extended warranty on a vehicle, I would always read all the fine print. The problem is that no one really purchases a warranty and expects something like that to ever happen, so you never think about it when you purchase it.

Thanks for the heads up. Several aftermarket warranty companies have gone belly-up too.

Stick with a factory warranty if you can.

my customers have had very good luck dealing with MBP extended warranties. they cover just as much if not more than the starmark warranties, pay my techs more and generally are quite pleasent to deal with. as a sidenote, my 722.600 in my old 202 left this world at a premature 53K.

Got any contact info? I've got a number of folks seeking a reliable company.

BTW, do you know if they'll cover an AMG or Mercedes-Benz V12?

their main number is 800.325.8474. i'm not sure if they handle sales through there, but i'm sure they could at least route you to the correct department.

We have sold and honored Warrentech and Repair Master warranties.

So far (7 years and counting), they have held up their end. When I call, they ask OE or aftermarket and how much labor. I then reply and they pay.

No, I think that they will not cover the AMG cars because of the C36. They wrote too many policies on these cars. In the day, the head gasket alone, part only, was over $600/////

Any Info on this company.

Currently I have WarrantyDirect and they have been pretty good.

Most of the service I have they paid for it including recent worn clutch pack (shift flaring) which totaled to $4050 roughly to replace the new tranny unit ($2800 part only). (I paid nothing since I have zero deductible).

Since I am thinking of getting another AMG car or M car in addition I found out that WarrantyDirect no longer carry coverage for any M cars and any AMG cars.. (all model).

But the still cover Audi S line , including the new V-8 S4..

Regardz,

J Irwan
