Oil Filter Check Value

Hello. Looks like my oil filter check value to going bad. I get the engine clatter for a second or two only after the car has been sitting for 4 or 5 hours. I searched this forum and found a reference to this problem in another thread. I took the service bulletin (AF05.20-P-1400EG) to a local dealer in Germany and he looked it up. Sure enough the part was very inexpensive (8 Euros) but when I asked the cost to install this part he estimated 500 Euros. That seemed very high. I got the impression that this repair wasn't a big deal and wanted to replace it myself but the dealers got me thinking this is a bit more involved than I thought.

Does anyone who has replaced this part have any words of wisdom on how hard or easy this job is?

P.S. My local German MB dealer could not find the other service bulletin (AF05.00-U-1300AG) reference in a previous thread. Anyone know if this is this a MB USA number only?
