Possibilities for a very quick 560SEL?

I was wondering about cars lately (As has been the usual, these days), and thought that the 560SEL was the most perfect car I've ever been in. Comfort, safty, elegance, and so on. I have considered a good Black on Black example my dream car for a long time.

Now I don't have much money at the moment, but I'd like to buy a car that'll be with me until I have quite a bit, and still satisfy me.

Now, I was wondering. If I blueprinted the block, strengthened all the internals, possibly bored it out (Would have to resleave, I believe), lowered the compression (possibly), and twin turbo'ed it, could I see 500-550 horses? I've seen quite a bit of tuning done to the Ford 4.6, the Supra engine, or the 3000GT engine, and they've all done it. I wouldn't be doing it anytime soon, but again, I like to plan as far ahead as I can. Or just end up with a Focus until I can afford this. I know it'd be cheaper to get a 400E and switch the rear end, or get a 500E. But this is a dream car project. Might last a lifetime.

I know I'd have to upgrade the transmission, and thought of aftermarket manuals. This is an area I haven't really looked into. I know I can get one for $20,000 at Renntech, I believe. Rather copious amount of money for a transmission. Mabey it's justified, seeing as a new setup, the body work, the modifications needed, and all that could cost near that, and this would be an assured (I'd assume) positive outcome. "I've looked into this, and can't find the unit I'd saw before. Mabey I'm mistaken?"

I'd rather be behind the tank, than the Focus. It might not be the most economical way to go fast, but it's even less economic to be dead before you make that money. That's my take on this.
