SLK350.........will it bring down SL prices?

With the new SLK coming out........love the front end...... will this bring prices down of used SL500's?

I just sold my 97 SL320, to my nephew, and would like to buy a 2003 SL500.

My nephew seems to think not, since the SLK is a "woman's" car.........to him. I feel that many men would buy it, thus taking away from the 03-04 SL market.

Your thoughts????????????

IMO it won't have a big effect on prices, the cars are quite diffferent in features and appeal. What is driving down prices is the large inventory of 129's for sale (at least here on the west coast everyone is trading up to the 230's), gas prices and repair costs, whether real or perceived (at least on the 600's).

I'd have to say that I don't think the new SLK's will take away potential customers from SL's; each has a different target buyer & price point. The possible exception would be the less-wealthy potential SL buyer being swayed to buy an SLK 55AMG

Totally two different cars. You are comparing apple and orange. What do you base on to compare them? Kinda like asking if a new E-Class affect the price of a CL.

I agree w/ previous posts, two different animals.

But, I love the looks and performance of the new SLK. I think they look really cool, and the performance of the new model is far superior to the previous models.

Well I can't wait to see the how the new SLK effects the sales of that little Lexus coupe that I can't stand the sight of, it looks like a fat woman oozing down the road, at least the SLK maintained it's "mercedes" look and threw in a few nice curves, giving it some style that will definatly compete with the Lexus SC. I certainly hope that the quality is competetive as well.
