SLC rally replica.
Hi all.
Here's a few pictures of my 280 SLC all ready to go for a rally tour I am going in next week. It is the New Zealand Dunlop Targa. I am not going in the rally proper, which is a full-on motorsport event, but a navigational tour that runs alongside. This basically meant I didn't have to do the whole rollcage/harness safety thing. We get to drive on the same closed roads though, so that should be interesting! For those who don't recognise the style of the car, it is a loose replica of the late 70s 450 SLC 5.0 rally cars. The car was already Silver so that made it a little easier. A company called Solid Steel did the black paint, and a few other sponsors came on board to help out.
It should all be a bit of fun really. there are about 240 cars in the event, ranging from old 1960s Austin Healeys and E-Type Jags through to Evo VIIIs and STI Imprezas. There is another guy in the rally proper in a 1972 280SE, so I looking forward to meeting him to see how modified it is. There are also a couple of 190E Cosworths and a lonesome modern C36 AMG..
