Hot start Problem

I've read a number of threads on this issue. I have a 1979 450SL. It starts cold but after it's been running and I let it sit for 10 minutes or so it's hard to start. I've replaced the fuel accumulator, fuel pump check valve, a mechanic checked the fuel pressure it wasn't leaking. The mechanic checked for vacumn leaks for a different problem and fixed all the vacumn leaks. Does anyone know either how I should proceed or what the problem could be? Thanks.

My indie mechanic is installing a new fuel pump on Monday to solve same problem...He diagnosed it by standing rear right and listening to the noise at the gas tank as I tried to start up.

I had the same problem. I was told to replace the fuel accumulator and that fixed it 90%. I replaced the injectors and that fixed the other 10%.

Fuel accumulator is easy to replace. I had it done in less than an hour, and it didn't cost me a fortune.

Timing is off, something with the timing...Advance/Retard it a little, if you can. It sounds as if it's too far advanced. try backing it off a few degrees. Also, try to just back it off slowly as someone cranks it, 'til it starts. check and secure the timing there.
