The infamous center vent problem. You have the problem most of us have or had. If you take a small dowel rod and push open the vents when the a/c is running - 2 things can happen;
1. they will open and close when the car or hvac system is turned off this tells you that you have one or more vacuum pods that are leaking.

2. they will open and stay open when you turn the car or hvac system off and then turn the car back on. If this happens you have the dreaded center vent pod loose from the heater box that has cracked, and/or 1 or more vacuum pod leaks. There are many posts on this problem, do a search and it will give you many results - good luck.
