Transmission Fluid Level

I have a 1977 450sl that leaks a little transmission fluid from the kickdownswitch.I usually try to keep an eye on it,and add when needed. It leaks mainlyafter it sits for a week.Last night I added about 4 to 5 ounces too much.It isalways tough trying to guess the amount.I figure over time this will leak out, but,I do not want to damage either. My question without being to anal aboutthis car. What is a safe overage? and is it better to be a little over or underon fluid? I am trying not to be a slave to this car. Thanks for your advice Bob
