I'm so sick of power window switches I could scream. I've replaced the same switches four times. I've sourced them from aftermarket places and the dealer. The new switches just don't seem to hold up the way the originals did.

There are two ways to do this. First is to gently pry up on the window switch until you've got it unseated from the center console, then pull it up and out. You'll need to twist it around to get the plug and wires on the back of the switch out. Replace the switch and gently work it back in. Be careful when seating it because the chrome ring around the top is just chrome plated plastic and it'll snap apart.

The second way involved taking out the ashtray, removing the ashtray frame, taking out the screws holding the wood in place on the center console, sliding the wood panel toward the rear of the car to release the holding pin, then lifting it up and out to get at the back. I've always used the second method, because it doesn't take that much longer (after all the practice I've had doing it) and I'm more comfortable with the fragile chrome rings being able to work from both sides of the wood.
