83 380SL climate control amplifier

Hello,

I am having trouble locating the climate control amplifier behind the glove box on the passenger side on my 83 380SL. Is it hidden behind some thing or is it in a different location? According to some online sources, it is part number 000 835 0157, and supposed to look like the attached image.

Thank you in advance ...

Yup... That's what it looks like.
I think you'll find it mounted to the tranny tunnel, underneath the dash on the right side of the vehicle. You'll have to remove the lower dash panel. I can't remember if you can access from the glove box or not. I confess my info comes from a late 450SL I helped a friend with, so I can't be sure the 380 is the same.

Good Luck!

The amplifier serves to take the readings from the temperature sensors, and provide the input necessary for the cimate control servo to adjust accordingly. Basically, there are three "parts" to the climate control system. The control wheel, push buttons and sensors make up the command portion. The Servo is the slave, or function controler, and the amplifier is the bridge.

I thought the servo was phased out after 1980. If you have one, sorry to hear it. They are a *****.

The 1982 and later SL's got the horizontal push-button units. The servo and amplifier were replaced by intelligence in the push-button (control) unit, a blower control module and a heater control module.
