Question crank sensor - 87 560SL

About 18 mo ago the car started stalling without any rough idle, etc. An independent shop (I had it in for the steering pump) told me that the crank sensor was loose and they tightened it - no charge.

This started happening again today - exact symptom. Stalls, but starts right away. The engine stumbled some when I was trying to get it back home, but I believe it's the sensor again. About a year ago the dealer replaced the coil, plug wires and plugs.

Can someone tell me where this is located and if it's a self-help item? I would almost rather replace it if I can get to it and not screw anything else up in the process!

As always, any help is appreciated.

Never mind

I found the information I needed on the service manual CD: 15-510. Could not find the CD yesterday.

Thanks to all who responded.
