Removable Hard Tops
Does anyone know if 94 SL320 and 94 500SL are interchangeable?

The hard top for the 107 fits all years and all engines from 1972 to 1989; I have to think the 129 hardtops are just as interchangeable.

129 tops are interchageable within the same model year of course. But I believe that starting in 94 or 95, the seals around the door glass perimeter were changed. The later model cars have a feature which lowers the side window glass a tad when the door is first opened, then raise it up again when the door is closed. These "newer" tops are not interchangable with the early models.

The best way to make sure is to present VINs from the 93 and the 94 to the parts guy at your local MB dealer and he will tell you for sure. I almost bought a top without checking this first because someone told me that all tops from 1990 to 2002 are interchangeable. Not so. I lucked out and found a top for my 01 SL500 that matched from an 02 Silver Arrow. But the VIN check was where I started. Check it out. Good luck.
