Drivers door won't budge----74 450SL

I had just finished putting a new door panel I picked up last weekend on the drivers door.
While walking to the other side of the car to retrieve some needed tools,a gust of wind blew the door shut.
Now the damn door won't open by either the inside or outside handles
I can lock/unlock using the key or the lever inside but the latch appears to be "stuck" and I have no idea how to get in there with the door closed.
I'm reluctant to just pry on it as it feels like the latch is "engaged"
Can anyone offer ideas or assistance??
I'm mad as all get out right now and am fresh out of ideas
