Buy the January edition of Mercedes Enthusiast magazine. They have a big review of the 450SLC.

I'd like to see it, too!

Aloha Oliver,

I'm in Hawaii and I'd like to see it, too. Have researched Mercedes Enthusiast a little bit on the web and it was supposed be available in the United States in October or November. Went to my local bookstore today and they don't have it, and don't list it as available. Any help you can give would be appreciated. (publisher, address, website, etc.)

Thanks,
Ray

I have a 79 450 SLC. I live in south central Missouri in the Ozark Mountains (little ones). This car has the finest handling charactoristics for this type of driving I have ever experienced. This area is one of 2 lane country roads that have sharp curves, quick ups and downs and NO BURMS. I drive with my "foot in the carberator" and enjoy the ride. I had a 79 450 SL in Arizona and did not get the same feel I have in this SLC.

Dear Forum members,
I have the January issue with the mentioned SLC article. It reads ok but there is a lot on innacurate info, for example they say the 450SLC from 72 to 80 had a 4 speed auto, not true. Worse yet on their spec guides they published that all 450's SL, SE, SEL and SLC had a 4 speed auto!!!
The featured SLC has the not so pretty chrome pieces added to the fender wells plus a non original steerling wheel and even the color I think is non original, the magazine is published in the U.K. where there are plenty of nice SLC's available for an article like this.
Another major error, they have on the cover that the C-class coupe with the CDI engine is the first diesel coupe ever built by MBZ and 1st in the world by any auto maker, WRONG!!! My sister drives a 1984 300CD Turbo-Diesel coupe and those cars have been available since 1979, only for the US but they were built in Germany at the Singefielden plant like most Benzes of that era.
Regards,
JBrasile
