560 SL Trunk Lock Problem

The trunk lock on my 1988 560SL is no longer operative. I've got a vacuum leak at the trunk lock actuator that I suspect is preventing the lock mechanism from dis-engaging. The fuel door was also stuck in the locked position and I was able to get it operating with my vacuum tool. Not so with the trunk lock.
I'd appreciate advise on getting in the trunk to make repairs. Neither the paper manual or CD version shows a release like you find on a sedan. Can the trunk lock be defeated? Is it time to drag out the old slide hammer?
