Steering Coupler Wanted

I was just wondering if anybody happened to have a worn-out coupler for a 107 (PN" 1154600510) he'd like to sell or trade for, say, 2 rubber grommets for a brake master cylinder . (Actually, kidding aside, if you haven't replaced those grommets yet, they're eventually going to leak when you step on the brake, like mine just did. So, now might be a good time to change them, even if you don't have an old coupler to trade.)

OTOH, if you do have an old coupler to sell or trade, please message me off list.

Thanks very much in advance.

What do you plan on using a used steering coupler for?

Perhaps it is for an attempt to rebuild it. The old ones (of the 60's-70's) WERE rebuildable, but the newer ones are riveted, I'll bet for liability reasons.

Nevertheless, I think they can still be rebuilt.

I agree that they can probably be rebuilt. However, I'm not sure how well they would last after installation.

...and the problem to me is that they're too damn hard to change out to take a chance on having to do it twice.

They last just fine if you rebuild them. If you use graded metric bolts the rebuild will be safer than new ( especially if the new ones are Chinese).

I don't have a spare one at present , but they were also used on W116 and perhaps W115 and W108

That's what I was thinking. I thought I would rebuild one before I took the old one out, so I could just pop the new one in and go on my way.

I guess people just throw the old ones out. Oh well, The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men. Gang aft agley. But thanks for the thought.
