1964 M B 230 SL Needs Home

I Recently Purchased '64 230 sl on eBay (not A Good Idea )
The Seller Said It Ran Well - It Doesn't - It Has A 220 se engine
(127.982 Block w/ a new looking head) From An Early 60's 220 SEB. I Am Told That This Run Problem Is Most Likely Due To A Fuel Injection Pump Needing A Rebuild Since The Car Sat In Storage For Quite Some Time. Since It Is Not The Correct Engine I Am Reluctant To Repair The Engine.
The Car Is Solid And Appears To Be Rust Free. It Was Orginally A Calif. Car . It Had Been Hit In The Right Front And Had Been Repaired By An Amateur (rt. door and hood gaps not even).
The Body Is Very Good Otherwise .
The Car Was Given To A Retired Farmer In Iowa ( 50-th wedding anniversary) By His Son
Who Brought the Car From Calif. He Had The Car About 12 Years And Reportedly Did Not Drive It Much, If At All. He Sold The Car To A Retired Dairy Farmer, Also In Iowa, For $17,500 - He
Had The Car 7 Years And Had Driven It 8,000 km. The Indicated Mileage Now Is 50,070 kilometers
He Traded It For A Used VW Diesel. I Bought The Car For $11,000 On eBay. The Car Has A Good Feel And Seems Very Original. It Has The Kinder Seat , Nice Interior, Hard Top, Wood Trim, Radio,
And Power Steering . It Is 050 White w/ Black int. Upright Spare.
This Is More Work Than I Wanted To Do. I Just Wanted A Nice Original Weekend Driver. So This Car Is For Sale - It Is Well Worth Fixing. Rob 540 361 1082

FI Pump Dry In eBay Beast

The Engine Barely Ran And Had A Variety Of Interesting Noises. One Of Them Sounded Like A Bad Ring Or Loose Lifter In The Middle Of The Engine. I Had Read In The Forum That The FI Pump Had An Oil Fill And Dip Stick - So I Lifted The Little Red Cap And Seeing No Oil I Added About 4 oz.- On Checking The Dipstick All This Really Nasty Black Sooty Oil Diluted With Alot Of Bad Smelling Gasoline Came Out The Dipstick Hole. After Allowing This Stuff To Drain (Car In Steep Driveway)- I Started It Up And It Ran Much Better. The Engine Will Now Accelerate More Smoothly From Idle To 2500 rpm - Where Before It Would Only Do It Roughly And Usually Stall 3 Out Of 4 Times. The Engine Has A Smoother Idle Now But It Idles At 500-600 rpm And Much Less Black Smoke Too!
Oh And Half Of The Noises Went Away Too.

This Car Has A Pre 1963 220 SE engine With The 2 Plunger Pump.
The ??
Is there A Drain Plug For The FI Pump??
Is There A Filter For The FI Pump??

What Should The Idle Speed Be??
And How Do You Adjust It ??
What Should I Look For To Check Out This Pump??
What Steps And Order Of Operations Do You Go Through To Properly Set-Up The FI Pump ??

Thanks Rob!!

Engine number Question

Hi all I thought I would drag out the eBay Beast Post
I only got 5 replies for the raffle idea - either you guys remember the time when a $100. or $200. would actually buy something or nobody wants a fixer 230 sl. I'm surprised.
My question is ::> the engine number in the engine is
127.982 10 024840. What year is it? I think it came from a 220SEb
What are the specs? It seems to be running better and the more I see of it the more it looks like the 127.981 that should be in the car.
Also should I have started another new post ? Should this be here or in vintage ??
Thanks Rob

You are correct. They were made from '59-65.
2 plunger pump. [the 230sl had the Bosch 6 plunger]
