Found My 89 560SL - So it Begins
Hey gang,
Just acquired another Benz... I've built an offroad/tow truck G55 and fully restored a w211 E63... both on prominent MB forums. As well as dozens of other car/truck and motorcycle builds. I recently restored an '87 911 from scratch, thread here As my 87 911 is my daily, and the wife uses our Macan, I needed a new car to take some wear and tear off the 911.... I was searching for a new flavor of AMG, and decided I wanted a little more character. After quite the search, I found a two owner, fully documented California car. First order of business, I needed to add carplay... I didn't want to do a phone mount, and I didnt want a large screen. I found this single DIN android/carplay unit that was being used by the S2000 community after searching... at $140 it was a no-brainer. I also added an 8" subwoofer under the rear deck and two new JBL speakers to the dash. Everything retains the stock wiring, so retrofitting back will be a breeze. Next order of business is new brakes, front subframe mounts and getting some adventures under my belt w the misses and our youngest great dane. I will be doing the Euro bumper upgrade, I love the look, and it will give me about another foot of clearance when parking in the garage. Looking forward to documenting more of the journey here. -Ian

Ian,, would you mind giving me an approximate price upgrade to do that
these days,,$ US dollars, and you have lovely example cars, regards. my first post,, and i have a 450 SL, on its way to Australia from US.

89, nearly identical to my 87... blue looks good, but i like my red one.

Well after owning the car for 7 months and only putting 450 miles on it, the engine has left the chat. Either HG or a ring... I'm selling the motor and transmission and doing a single turbo 2JZGTE swap this summer.
Then putting it back on the road as a daily. Some photos of my old G55 as requested:
