What year is this 500SL

I have noticed most 90's SLs have the same instrument cluster as in my 91 300CE. In the parking lot where I work is a 500SL whose instrument cluster has chrome around the gauges and light gray background and black numbers. What year was that or is that a personal customization?

It sounds like its a customerized job. I saw a '97 in my dealer lot with chrome odo. You can oufit that with any model year.

The "Final edition" 2001 model also has the chrome dials.
