Cool My 88 560SL is now 100%!

I purchased my 88 (55K original) about 2 weeks ago and have performed all of the preliminary maintenance and visual checks. I have changed the oil and filter, air filter, plugs, intake manifold gaskets (number 4 cylinder was along for the ride at idle), cleaned the ICV (idle control valve), the power steering pump seal (at the pulley), replaced the heater control valve (didn't have heat above idle speeds), and installed some new BF Goodrich touring tires.

The car is a very nice ride and am excited about getting some warm weather to put the top down. The engine is very tight and the paint and interior is a 9 out of a 10. Exterior color is silver with a navy blue leather interior. I love the torque band on this car, it pulls without effort! Even with the hard top removed, the front end has just a small amount of cowl shake. I will post some pictures in a couple of days.

Greg

Excellent Greg! Way to get the thing prepped for the sunny season Always wondered what performance was like for that big V8 in that little chassis!

Awaiting the pictures...

Regards,
- Ryan

Congrats, Greg! I've had my '89 560SL ever since 12/24/02, but thanks to that Michigan reality known as Winter Storage, you've got more done than I do.

That engine and suspension are both amazing. Doesn't feel as quick off the line as my Saab 9-5 V6 does, but entering the freeway you're somehow up to 80 and it's still accelerating just the way it was at 40. I've driven mostly other Euro iron, but haven't had anything that has the same feel. Speed doesn't matter; it doesn't get lighter, or twitchier, or anything but faster!

SL--Anything else is just a Mercedes.
(Kudos to whoever said it first)
