Vibration
On my 1987 560SL, I have a slight vibration at 60 MPH. It seems to be worse when the weather is cold. Anything before or after this speed, the vibration goes away. I have replaced the tires with new Michellins and had the tires balanced several times and they check out o.k. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this vibration?

Just a wild guess, but you might try making sure all the lug nuts are torqued properly.

Look very carefully for a bent wheel...tho if the folks balancing the tires were any good at all they would have noticed that.
Is there a wheel with an unusually large amount of weight added? A three or four ounce wheelweight is a dead giveaway in my mind. Michelins are usually pretty good but no one is perfect...maybe a bad tire? good luck, Dave 87 560SL |

I had the same problem ...it was due to a damaged wheel
...rotate the tires (front to rear) and see if the problem goes away. |
