still making the cupholders?

I just saw this post (from 2008) and was hoping you were still making the cupholders. I didn't see them on ebay, and wanted to check. I have an '83 300D and was looking for a cupholder for it.

Please let me know. I'm very interested in getting one from you.

Making them to order proved to be too time consuming and costly.

I've changed the way I make them slightly (not in appearance) so they now last through the cold of winter and the heat of summer without delaminating or cracking.

I guess I'll make more, but this time I'll make a batch of them (maybe 50) and post here when they're ready. Once those are gone, I'll make another batch if there's still a demand for them.

Give me some time to get them ready. My process is still time consuming, but everyone should be happy with the end result.

I also need to change the price since the effort is greater and the material costs have gone up. Let me figure out a fair price to properly compensate myself while still giving you guys a good deal.

I'll post back in about a week with better info. Thanks for everyone's continued interest.

I've got one for a W123 and 3 for a W126.
They came with a car I bought. They're not yours but look just like them.
Now I know where he got the idea from!

I'm a Benz newbie - just bought a 1987 300TD - and I would love to get two of these beautiful cup holder console inserts! Are you able to make these for the W124? If so, please put me down for two (my dad has a 1987 300TD also). Thanks!

As it turns out, I spoke before I paid. W124 deal fell through, but I drove home a beautiful w123 last night, so now I would dearly love one cup holder insert for my Dad's w124 and one for my '82 w123. : )

Cheers!

Sorry I figured out a price I think is fair to cover materials and the time to make the cup holders.

I can ship a cup holder anywhere in the states for $90 which will include the packaging/handling and shipping costs.

I've refined the process I use to make these so they resist cracking and warping in the winter and summer extremes, at least in the Northeast climate. I've haven't heard about any issues with others I've made recently either.

I've incorporated finishing steps that allow the cup holder to grip into the tray without scratching it. I'll post a new set of photos when I complete the next batch. I'm happy with the way these look and last and think they look like something that came with the car originally.

I'm taking longer in getting the latest batch completed because I've been sidelined while healing up from a double hernia operation. I'll be able to get back to working on them the last week of August or the first week of September. I should be healed up fine by then and it will be after my Benzfest is over so I can leave the garage/wood shop set up in production mode.

I won't be making any cup holders for other models at this time. I may in the future, but I will only make them for 124 and 126. I tried making them for r107s, but found out that there are too many variations of the center console. I have a template for a 1983 380SL but it can only handle 1 cup since the tray slopes to less than 2" at the back and a second won't fit properly.

I've been lurking on the internet for the last 2 hours looking for cupholders for my W123, I saw this thread from like 2009 and was like **** there's no way he's still making these.

Then I find that this thread is alive! I had to sign up just to post in this thread, my mind has been blown... anyway...

I'll gladly purchase one when there ready. Guess my shipping will be more to UK, say $130 or about that?

Although I am in the States from 13th Sept - 28th 2013 on a West Coast tour SF, LV, LA and San D. If one's ready could pick up / post to my hotel, that would be pretty cool.

I take it you'll do payment via paypal when they're ready, have you got an email address you could PM me?

Sorry to hear about your hernia though, one word of advice: take it steady for the first couple of months!!!

I've been custom making cup-holders for the W123 with a zebra wood veneer. I list them on ebay and on craigslist and sold to several members from here already but I am not a dealer. These are a labor of love, a one man operation, and them only part time, and something I work on myself when things are slow at my little art gallery.
