300D 5 Speed Manual Transmission

[COLOR=DarkGreen]I am looking for a 5 Sped manual transmission for my 300D (123 Series). Does anyone know of a source ? I have been told that they were only available in European 300D Models; and none were for U.S. export. Does anyone have an overseas contact for the 5 Speed Manual Transmission? Any assistance/info
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......Pete in Virginia Beach !!![/

Join the club. Then you get to find the euro flywheel, assuming you want it to be *correct*.

Lovedabch,
With only 12 posts to your credit, you're going to have to take a number . Additionally, Forum protocol dictates that you have to give diesel forum members with the most posts in descending order first right of refusal on any 5-speeds you come across.

Good luck.

I spent yrs looking for one of those suckers. I was literally laughed at where-ever I asked for one. If you have the $, you can call MB Classics (1-888-MBClassic) and order one as they aparently have rebuilt models available from the mother country. Not sure whether or not there is a waiting list there, as I sold my diesels ( ) before I got the $2900 (give or take, I can't remember exactly) together for just the tranny.
In all my years I have only ever seen two in the US, and I do a lot of looking!
Good Luck.

300 D 5 Speed Manual

I had no idea these transmissions were so scarce and in demand. I certainly appreciate all of your feedback. I guess I will continue to look "in my dreams" !! ......Pete

Would anyone here have an MI if I said I saw one in a euro 300D at the junkyard. It got crushed before I could get back to the yard to pull the tranny. One less 5 speed in the world.

Dr. says I can taper off medication in a few years.

Theres one here

There’s a German lady in my neighborhood that has an immaculate EURO 300D 5 speed whenever I have tried to talk to her she just looks straight ahead and ignores me I think she is afraid of crime. If you make an honest attempt to buy something and due to language barriers they don’t understand well it would be all right to switch her transmission with an automatic and leave a grand heck she is probably tired of shifting any way. Please help me justify grand theft It would be nice in my euro 300d but it would be great in my 1979 300sd

Remember, it's not grand theft if it's just the tranny ;-)

TomJ

TomJ,

RE: "- Transmission conversions/service (convert automatic to 4-speed manual transmission)"

Is this only for the 240's?

Can an American 4/5/speed be 'adopted' to the 5cyl 300SD's?

THX & God Bless

Of course, that's primarily what I've done the coversions on like others here. The 240 is almost a waste to do the convert on as most people can do that themselves, in their sleep.

If you are ever near/in Colorado, you are welcome to drive my 300D that I've done a 4-speed conversion on and if I can get it, you can try a wagon I'm in the process of converting (time and $'s thing, the customer is a dirt-poor college student.) Also, there are two other 300D Turbo's around that I've converted that I can probably get back for "maintenance" and you could test drive those too.

There is plenty of info on this board for you to do the conversion yourself and save a lot of $'s. Many here can help if you get stuck in the process.

BTW, forget about a 5-speed unless you want the expense of bringing one from Germany or you want a 124 chassis converted.
