Yeah, it's for the whole instrument cluster, even the bulb's that are in them. I really don't know about the usage of them. I guess you could ask some of the experts on this site. I have asked them things, and got very good answer's that worked.

But I have 4 or 5 of these units now, I don't know the mileage on the newer ones, but you want one very close, if not the same as your old one. Fairness and right doing is always good.

The newer clusters don't have the awesome Economy Gauge, ify on when they were removed 90? 91?. So you'll have to deal with the vacuum line for that function if you use a 2nd Gen cluster for your 1st Gen car. No biggie.

As a plus, the Newer ones--again ify on the year--have improved lighting Benzels that better project the lighting in the cluster.

May need some clarification but, I think that's all there is to it when it comes to 300E Cluster retrofits/swaps.

OK, based on what "Elk" stated. I have all four units that have the economy gauge. And the mileage is 119,+++, 124,+++, 150,+++ and 201,+++. Like I stated, you want one that is as close to your original miles as possible, so as not to cheat anyone. Don't know when they changed the gauge out, but I have one out of a 92 that has an economy gauge.
