Moron Deadbeat Sellers-This Time It's jfrankmotors
How about this one.....I need a lower dash for my '70 280S. Found one in Indiana a couple of weeks back on the Ebay classifieds. $80 with no shipping posted. Four or more emails and a couple of phone calls we agreed on the listed price plus $40 to cover the shipping. Said he would send a Paypal invoice to finish the transaction. Nothing ever came. Another phone call, left message, no response. Yesterday, 3/12, I see the same dash from the same seller on Ebay auction site for $150 plus $25 something for shipping. Of course I contacted him about our original agreement and he thanked me for 'my offer' and said it was against Ebay policy to conduct a sale outside blah blah blah. I sent an email reminding him of our original agreement and he said he might sell it for a discount if it didn't sell in the next 90 days......WTF?! So, if you have an opportunity to deal with jfrankmotors in Indianapolis, please think twice as the guy is just not a straight shooter.

You know, I am from Indianapolis and I can fill you in a little on JF Motors. The statement above in post #4 was/is very true. The original "J" in J Frank Motors (Jan) was an outstanding fellow and true gentlemen. He was hands down the largest grey market importer in Indiana in the 80's and had an excellent service business on the side. As mentioned, he was also very active in the local and national MBCA.
HOWEVER...he recently retired and his son took over the business. His son is the typical, slimy, money-motivated salesman just trying to squeeze the last dime out of the place. Talking to him gives you the creeps. They have been posting a lot locally with parts for sale in Craigslist so I went in to check things out. What a mistake. The place is in shambles, parts are all unorganized and everywhere. It's too bad because they have a HUGE stock of parts going back to the 60's. I bet there is some rare stuff in that warehouse. This place will be run into the ground in no time as all decency and customer service is gone from the place. It's a shame, really.

That rings true. I have done some busines in the past with JFrankmotors and found them reputable.
I'll have to skip down there and see if there is anything interesting for sale.

This sounds so typical...Pops builds up a great business over many years, then the son takes it over and all that work is flushed down the pot in record time.

The part that makes me sick is the fact that the son is essentially sullying Jan's reputation by still trying to ride the coattails with having things on the website like what was posted above. That shows no respect...for his own pops nonetheless.

As a general statement... I learned the hard way that where long-distance transactions are concerned, the minute something isn't working as you expected -- just walk away. Leave it.
Nothing you can do will resurrect the deal. Well unless they already have your money, of course....
