Are all M104 motors swappable into different chassis? I have a 95 C280 with the M104 and would like to swap a 97 E320 3.2L M104 into it. What so you think would this be difficult?

paul, if you have the means, I would suggest a c36 engine transplant... as a hell of a cool project and fast 300CE... of course That would involve lots of work to transplant everything needed, like a donor car for any computers etc.

but for all real purposes for your answer, give

www.silverstarrecycling.com a try.

104

That would be a pretty cool project, being a two door and all. and I probably have plenty of crap around the shop to make it a semi long project, but it belongs to a customer who just wants to get it up and running to sell.(heared that one a milion times) It was overheated. I've saved many a 103s and 104s with head resufacing or replacement and I thought the same about this one but this baby is really baked. I could smell it when the tow truck pulled into the lot. thanks for the link Ash.....Paul

Post Early 104 series engine

When you ask for an early 104 series engine that has CIS I can only assume that you are looking for a 104.980 engine. This was used in the early 300CE (W124) and the 300SL (W129). It makes a great transplant, especailly if you bolt a 16-vlv Getrag up to it. Good luck.
