Considering what a pain it is to replace, I would buy a new one. MSRP is $49, discount on-line price is $38.35

X2. Saving money just doesn't make sense sometimes.
Replacing the starter (4 times!) comes to mind

I might as well ask since you are headed into repairing something that is a mild pain. Is the interior handle of your rear panel door broken? My guess is that if you have and use 3rd row seats it is broken and if you don't it isn't. If it IS broken, replace it at the same time. It's a pain, and on THAT part I would go with used (which unfortunately I don't think I have any of anymore). You have to replace the entire latch mechanism because the piece that always breaks is a little pot metal tab that the chrome handles screws into.

his message is they would cost $2-4 at the junk yard....i have a couple but not for that cheap
others seem to be suggesting to buy new b/c it is a pita to replace and if you buy a used one and have to fix it again you will not be happy w/ your decision to buy used

FYI, PnP means Pick and Pull, which is a junkyard chain in various parts of the country. The person who said $2 - $4 at PnP was suggesting that it would cost you about that much at the junkyard. Plus a ****load of time trying to find one at a junkyard. Plus it might not work. blah blah blah.

Thanks. Yep, I had exhausted all resources looking for a new one before the original post, hence the "new or used". Haven't found a used one at this point either.

So did you verify that the part is NLA (no longer available) from Mercedes?
