FOR SALE 1979 W116 280SE, W123 300CD, Om617 Motors,78-80 300SD Trans, Tons of Parts
Hello
Locations: Chicagoland Illinois The time has come to part with my Mercedes and the Cold war like parts stockpiles. Everything must go as they say. Its been an incredible journey having 40 year old automobiles as daily drivers. I can now dismantle and reassemble an entire w116 except for the motors and transmissions with eyes closed. Anyhow, there are many parts to go. I will be listing a Blue 1979 280SE Euro 84k for 5,500$ Cash and a sanded needs paint blue 1979 300CD 130k 750$ Cash. Thousands of dollars in parts have been put into them along with every receipt to match, and extra spare parts. The vehicles will have their own separate listings. Pictures will be updated at the same time as vehicles listed. The head on the 280SE need to be rebuilt as it has blown valve seals and a head gasket leak. Motor peaked at 115c while stuck in traffic, immediately turned the heat on full bast and brought it down to 100C after 15 minuets and the 45 minuets to get back home. Vehicle will run as is, test drive is extremely limited and only for committed buyer. Lots of oil blow by, and needs a cleaned out/rebuilt WUR. I had the WUR and Fuel Distributor rebuilt and Injectors all tested (one replaced) after hooking the entire car up, I ran it forgetting to clean the small fuel dampener right next to the WUR and it let loose .1 grams of old varnish and partially clogged the WUR screen. The fuel distributor and injectors can be tested at the same company that rebuilt them. The car ran fantastic when it did run 85mph, until I eventually blew the seals and head gasket. A rebuilt WUR is approx 350 and head gasket well the kit is cheap the labor is not. The story is found here: https://forum.w116.org/mechanicals/another-no-spark-k-jet/msg142253/#msg142253 and https://forum.w116.org/mechanicals/280se-m110-blow-by-dripping-onto-ground-as-bad-as-a-tired-om617/msg142757/#msg142757 As for the 300CD it will need a rebuilt injection pump and to be re-timed. A small piece of rust from the rusted out fuel tank clogged the #1 delivery valve holder and no fuel comes out. The tank will need to be restored as it is rusted and the original fuel sender has been swapped for a slightly shorted w116 sender. The Ni-chrome wiring is still in-transit to fix the original. That story can be found here: OM617 Air bubbles clear plastic Line New Primer Pump, Filters and hoses hard to start The following is also for sale, I will part out the engines or sell whole 350$ cash ea both .950s for 600$. All will need turbo and manifolds, sold separate add for 200$. Shipping cost calculated by zipcode and packaging material. OM617.950 150kmiles rebuilt block replaced pistons with paperwork, The head overheated twice. Once before I bought it due to servo failure and again at the rear of cylinder 5 manifold side it leaked out (small line of rust). The timing chain tensioner screw into the head broke. A bolt was cast Iron welded into head and has held since on over 10k mi. Running when pulled. Head must be rebuilt/replaced, compression is around 380 across all cylinders. Engine burned minimal oil. $350 OM617.912 Unknown mi Pulled when pulled. Significant oil leaks and blow by, will need all new seals. A working core, covered in oil, can power wash before pick up or shipping. Stripped bare. Could be rebuilt $200 OM617.950 293k miles Engine has hardly any umph to it while starting from stop. Has a loud chattering sound and blows oil bad. Idea was to merge both OM617.950s together use this head with the other engines block. The chain is still tight, I don’t believe it skipped any teeth, but It must be rebuilt. 350$ 78-80 300SD Transmission 722.120 150k Mi. Has sat paired with an OM617.950 since removed. Performed flawlessly while it was installed. 125$ 78-80 300SD Transmission 722.120 293k Mi. Has sat paired with an OM617.950 since removed. Performed flawlessly while it was installed. 50$ Original Mercedes Windscreen glass for front and rear w116, has heated rear window, untested, no peeling or delamination. No serious scratches, original glass. 40$ ea 60$ for both. W116 Aluminum Hood w/ hinge and springs and deck lid 456H from a 300SD. Will need re paint. 60$ ea 100$ for both. Significantly lighter than steel. Here are the parts I’ve managed to list: If you don’t see it listed on my eBay page, ask me. I may have it. Only parts from w116 chassis. No interest in parting out 300CD, i believe that part is the same across all w123 300CD.
