124/201 Alcon brake upgrade
I am selling my set of Alcon front brakes, a pair of calipers and rotors. These came from my 500E, but would work equally well I believe on most 124/201 cars.
This is the original kit sold by Renntech in their E60 upgrade package, it retailed for over $7K. The calipers are very lightweight, probably about 5lbs each or so. The rotors are two piece handmade specials from the UK, with an aluminium hat. I bought this set three years ago (approx. 10,000 miles) at $635 each rotor. They are 330mm by 30mm slotted and cryo-treated, ventilated with 24 vanes. The 4 piston calipers were rebuilt about 3 years/10,000 miles ago by Berkshire Performance. These brakes were simply amazing. Lightweight and simply no brake fade, even on track days (of which unfortunately/fortunately there were only two) The guy who I bought them from who upgraded to 14" Brembos, said that the Alcons were better brakes with less fade. The one caveat is that they are noisy when cold, these are pretty much race brakes and in the morning the pads rattle around in the calipers until you get some heat into them. I am selling the calipers/rotors, a spare rebuild kit for the calipers from Alcon plus three sets of pads, two sets of R4S Porterfields and one set of Pagids. I am asking $1500. These are great brakes if you are building a track car, and they fit under a 17" rim without spacers. On a 16V for the track they would be awesome.
