These wheels won't fit the w126. You need the wheels with an offset of ET25. This one has a high one of ET49.

The flat face (15 slot) wheels from the 126 chassis useable on a 123 chassis are: 126-400-4102 8.5J 15H2 ET21.5 >EDIT - make that 6.5J etc.<<
(my mistake! )
They came chromed on many 420SEL's and 560SEL and SEC's. Watch out for peeling chrome however. Personally I wish I had painted wheels because with a good clearcoat on painted wheels its easy to wash the brake dust off. One of my bling plated wheels is starting to peel, and to have it painted costs a bunch because they have to remove the chrome using a chemical process that is banned in this area (thanks to CARB (ca air resource board, the same people that banned spray containers with propellant that destroys the ozone layer ).
I have been using the above wheel # on two of my 300TD's (a '79 and an '85) with much improved handling.
Also, the fact that tire manufacturers discontinued many of the good 14 in. tires makes me glad I have 15 in wheels, when will they take it on themselves to discontinue Pirellis in that size?

dieseldiehard: I presume this #126-400-4102 8.5J 15H2 ET21.5 will also fit the 126 with no clearance issues right?

Yes, that was my point, besides letting people know they work on the 123 cars without a spacer. They came off the W126 so they can go back.

I think the width given for the part number specified

should be only 6.5J, not 8.5. I don't think an 8.5 X 15" would clear the tie rod ends at that offset.

8.5 wheels fit fine, no rubbing on either of my 123's. These wheels were designed for big tires on the 126 cars with added weight factor.
I am using 205 65 15 tires and speedo error is insignificant (it was off a little anyhow even before the tire and wheel swap).

Gee members here sure know MB specs Thanks to all for all the input I just found the right wheels in very good shape at (local Pick a part) all they need is a good cleaning and maybe a little paint see picture.

Hi, look nice, twr. we know a little but there's always more to learn here.
Are those wheels for a 126 or 124?
Is Volcano Wheel still in business around San Diego? They did good work on my friend's wheels (polished alloys).
I hate polished alloys and man was I happy the day I offloaded them. I'll take painted wheels with good clearcoat on them over any of the chromed or polished wheels anyday

1264004102 are 6.5j 15 et 21.5

http://www.wheelcollision.com/mercedes1.htm

I have 1264003002 7j 15 et 25 and they are within a half inch of the tie rods. A little close for my taste.

But I love these wheels and rims, rides great, handles great. Highly reccomended upgrade. I also found that you don't need those extended lug bolts if you've got the right lug wrench.

Oh dear I stand corrected on the wheel info
I don't know where I got that info I will change my files accordingly! A 6.5 in wheel doesn't come close to the steering joints, so that is what I have on the 123 now and I love the improvement in handling.
BTW please explain what you mean about the lug bolts ie. what will a wrench do for you if the ones you have are too short?
