Lightest rims available?

Lightest rims available, which ones?? I have 14" bundts on both my 79 and 80 300SD's. i'd like to find some 15"s, but mainly, i want the lightest rims there are.

Thanks- -

the only way i know of is to weigh them my self. sometimes you can get ship weights but i am not sure if that is very reliable.

I would like to know the weight of that 14" wheel also. I weighed my tire and rim combo at 33 pounds. Rather heavy for a 190/70/14 tire I think. My friend's crapped out Trans Am has fat tires and 15 or so inch wheels and those weighed in at 60 lbs

some grocery stores still have scales for weighing stuff. i mean scales for like up to 300 lbs.. my grocery store Publix has one.. actually every Publix store has a scale like we have. they are brand new mechanical ones modeled after 50's era scales for weighing bales of newspapers

There are chromed 14" Bundts that performance products started selling recenty. They are copies but they say they are stronger and lighter. Of course they don't give any real details but maybe something to look into. They aren't too badly priced.

"The lightest rims there are" are very likely not affordable.

People use the phrase "mag wheels" all the time, but few if any really are magnesium.

For "lightest" you'll probably be looking at BBS or Minilite if it still exists.

This is too much money to put in an old car.

Your wheels are forged and will cost $1000 each to replace.

Any aftermarket wheels you can find will be cast and consequently not as good quality as your original wheels.

the clk wheels on my W124 are really light! in comparison to the oem 15"wheels.
you can pick up the clk rim with your thumb and index finger without breaking them! although i dont know the exact weight, should have weighed them before i put them on the car but too late.

The only problem with modern mercedes wheels is the offset when you try to put them on older models.
Having nice light wheels on a 240D or a 300SD would help them tremendously on the peppiness and mpg department.

Its not a Lotus, your not going to notice the difference with a few extra pounds of un sprung weight.

I'm not too sure of that........ I remember a post from "Rick", and I chuckled when he said he could tell the difference when he put the aluminum rims on his 240D (or 300). I put them on my "78" and I swear, I can tell the difference and I like it If I had one without a tire on it I would weigh it just for fun.

just weighed a 14" alloy bundt 123 series- on my digi bath scale, so take it with a grain.

just wheel- 13.5 to 15.5 lbs over several attempts.

all 4 weigh in at 58.0 lbs three different times, but i could only stack these 1 way

with me holding rim=176 no rim=163 several times, same results=13 lbs.

so i think that me holding it is more accurate. for some reason it would flucuate depending on how i set it on scale. i'd say 13- 13.5 lbs. is pretty close.

oh- no center cap, just the rim. and they did still have some weghts on, so subtract 1- 1 1/2 oz per
