cruise control

i recently bought a e220 avantgarde 2003. The car is fitted with brabus 18" rims. The tyres on the back are 245-45-18, on the front 225-45-18. Cruise control wont set between 58 and 78 mph but is ok at any other speed. MB main dealer has told me i need to fit 245-45-18 on the front and they should then be able to re calibrate cruise control , could anyone confirm this info or are they off the mark. Any help appreciated.
