I'm running the HydroEdge on both of my SDL's and they do get long mileage. So far, on the 87, I've been about 56K miles, and still have plenty of tread. I was told by my tire guy not to get the TripleTred as it was not nearly as good.

Don't know about the others.

I'm getting ready to replace the set of Harmony tires on my SDL, probably with another set of the same. I'm delighted with them, they've been somewhere around 50k and probably will get low (Still driveable, but lower than I care to run them) within the next 5k or 10k at the most. So I consider them 50-55 thousand mile tires - and I'm delighted with that. Planning to replace with the same thing whenever I get around to it. Either way I'm a Michelin fan.

Pardon my ignorance, what is LRR?

I currently have the Sumitomo HTR 200s on my 300D, and I'm quite happy with them. I also have some Dunlop SP60s on my 240D and I'm quite happy with those also. The Dunlops are all-season, and the Sumitomos are summer-rated, so you may want to stick with the Dunlops if you forsee snow driving.

I have some Michelins on my 250. They grip pretty well, but are hella noisy (at least I think that noise is coming from the tires).

Thumbs up Goodyear Regatta 2

My '85 300D came to me with a new set of Regatta 2's......I read some stuff on line that I didn't like about the Regatta 2.....but I have gotten excellent mileage (they are warrantied for 70,000 miles) and have begun to replace and recycle them down to my '84 190D.......they have not given me any problems.

I feel that the Goodyear Regatta 2 gives excellent service and value.....for an average tire......

I bought a set of the General Altimax HD's from treadepot last night. I took a chance on them, as I normally get Kumhos or Yokahamas. Tirerack had really good reviews on these tires. Treadepot had free shipping. Saved about $40 over the Tirerack price.

i totally believe that i had a set of Aquatred and aquatred 2 on my MK2 jetta diesel had such terrible luck with those. I just had my car aligned before i put tires on it before i have bfgoodrich something they are pretty crappy. I think i have 25K miles on them and one has a bald spot so i was wondering if a 400 rating tire vs a 800 utaq rating would hold up 2x as good thanks for the info!

Doesn't LRR also mean low grip? IE if you drive in a spirited manner will the car slide like crazy?

I'm a looking too.
When did tires get so complicated?

I guess just getting a set of Pirelli's
isn't always the right answer

Try 2 months old. I believe the information contained in that thread is pretty current.
