Uh oh...My Monoblock II rim has a crack in it :(

It has randomly been losing air for the last year on and off. Deflated completely and ruined my tire last month, so had it replaced today and discount tire found a crack.

Looks like that's why it was losing air.

What are my options here based on how it looks?

Discount tire said they won't mount a tire on a repaired rim, but I understand most places spray over so its not noticeable....

New rim or think its repairable?

It can be welded/repaired.

ps2cho, recommend replacing the rim. That's what I would do if faced with the same situation.

If its a race car, sure replace it. But if its a street going car welding will do just fine. It's ot a serious crack or bend. I had a CLK(light weight) wheel straightened and welded after I hit a pot hole. Not a single issue.

I bought a used rim on ebay last night that I found...Just to be safe, but I still plan to get it repaired to use as a spare.
I found a shop nearby that looks pretty pro...I'll see what they say.

Rim is 18x8 ET31.

Wheels are under very high stress, if this cracked without any sign of physical impact, there may be other cracks forming.

Inflating a tire to seat the beads, ( pop ) puts a huge impact load to the wheel lip. I had a tire fail on a tire machine after putting in about 15 PSI, removed the center lock, to gain clearance to install the valve core, moved over to one side for the core and tool then boom. The bead wire failed and the tire / wheel went 3 ft in the air.

For this to have any chance of not cracking again after welding, the area needs stripped, and the entire crack ground out then built back up with filler. The end of the crack is much farther in to the wheel that you would expect. To lightly v the crack and weld is pure folly no matter if it is a wheel or a bumper bracket.
